Sunday 22 August

Map Special excerpt from Fjällkartan at a scale of 1:50000 and Norwegian maps. Maps for Day 1 will be handed out on Friday morning and for Day 2 on Friday evening. The maps are inside plastic mapcases.

Note: The Swedish and Norwegian maps use different symbols.

Vertical interval between contours is 20 metres.

BAMM One Day get their maps on Saturday morning.

Recommended route At one place between two checkpoints a recommended route is marked with voilet crosshatched line on the map and a taped route in the terrain.

Control descriptions Control descriptions (in Swedish) are drawn on the map. English version will be supplied on a separately when the maps are handed out.

Manned controls are marked on the map.

Pen You must bring a waterproof pen to mark any course changes.

Length is as the crow flies. (Preliminary, there may be some changes.)

ShoesShoes with metal spikes are not allowed inside the hotel or the buses.
Extra clothes The organiser will not take care of any clothes on the buses.
Hill Climb Prize First male, female and mix teams to first control on Day 1 wins a price from Hilleberg. The placing is determined from the punches. The rule of max 15 sec between team members apply.
GPS Equipment containing a GPS (watches, mobile phones, etc) is allowed but those with a display must be sealed and stored in the backpack. The competition office do the sealing with a black plastic bag.
Maximum time Maximum time is 10 hours per day.

Officials have the right to move a team to "touring class" if team is late or suffers an injury.

Start Day 1 Buses to start departure from the camping parking (last year starting place). Follow streamers from the hotel about 500 m. The bus trip takes about 30 minutes. From the bus stop to start it is a 1 km walk.

Checkin (punch in check unit) when entering start area.

Mass start for all classes and courses from the starting area at marked start lines for BAMM 30, 50 and 70.

Quiet start. The starter rise a flag at start.

There are simple toilets at the start.

Start Day 2 The start is at the overnight camp for BAMM 50 and 70.

The start for BAMM 30 is at a different location. Transportation by bus from parking place in Katterjokk. The bus trip takes about 10 minutes and then it is a taped route about 1 km from bus stop to the start. Equipment bags (tent and sleepingbags) must be taken to a marked trailer at the bus parking. No toilets at the start.

Chasing start for teams within 1 hour after leading team. Teams more than 1 hour after leading team have mass start.

BAMM One Day start at the same time as BAMM 30 mass start. Follow instruction at registration.

Finish Day 1 Finish Day 1 is at the overnight camp for all teams. The finish takes place by punching the SportIdent finish unit when both team members have crossed the finish line.

After the finish punch the e-cards must be read out by officials.

Teams in BAMM 30 will have their equipment bags (tent and sleepingbags) taken to the overnight camp.

Finish Day 2 Finish Day 2 is near Hotell Fjället for all teams. Placing is determined at the finish line, after which the teams punch in the SportIdent finish unit (a few metres after the finish line).

Serving of something to drink, fruits and candy. Selling of BAMM-burger.

Punching system Control punching and timing will be done with SportIdent. SportIdent e-cards will be provided by the organisers. The SI e-cards should be zeroed before the start. Day one this is done by the organizer. Day two zeroing units are found at the start. E-cards are checked in checking units when entering the start (both days).

Each team receives 2 e-cards (one for each team member). The e-cards must be mounted round the wrist with the wristbands provided. It is not permitted to remove the e-card before finishing the race. Note that both team members must punch all checkpoints, see the rules.

The e-cards must be returned after the competition. Lost e-card will be charged a fee of 400 Swedish kronor.

BAMM 30
Equipment bags / transportation of equipment
In BAMM 30 the organisers transport one tent and two sleeping bags per team to the overnight camp and then back to the hotel in Björkliden. The equipment should be placed in a plastic bag, closed securely and marked with the team’s race number.

Note that it is not allowed to have anything else in the bags.

Competition meeting An optional meeting where we tell you the latest news.

Straight after the meeting, experienced mountain orienteers will advice about equipment, injuries, navigation and nutrition. Here you have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss these matters.

The presentation will be in Swedish but afterwards we have a summary in English.

BAMM banquet Saturday 350 SEK/person. Book and pay at the reception, Hotell Fjället, preferably before 2 pm on Saturday.
Team bag A team bag with SportIdent e-cards, wristbands, competition numbers, bag for equipment etc can be collected from the competition office.
Teams which do not finish Teams which pull out must inform the nearest official. There are no means of transport up on the mountain. In the case of more serious injuries contact mountain rescue ("Fjällräddningen") (telephone number 112).

The teams must also inform the competition office in Björkliden, so that we know that you are back.

Manned controls will be marked on the map.

Remember to hand in the SportIdent e-card.

Controls Controls consist of orange and white orienteering flags, a SportIdent unit and a punch (to be used if the SI-unit does not work).

Wait for an audible and visible signal when punching. If you get neither, use the punch to punch on the map.

Team changes Changes of team and individual information can be done via the web pages (no later than 19/8) or at the competition office at the latest Thursday 19:00.
Overnight camp Camp in the places indicated. Toilets are provided. Water for drinking and cleaning on marked places. All rubbish must be taken to Björkliden.
Medical treatment A doctor will be available at the overnight camp and in Björkliden after the finish of the race.
Rules The competion rules are available on the web page, at the competition office and on the notice board.
Competition numbers Are to be clearly visible from the front and on the back of the rucksack.

You must put one number bib on the tent in the overnight camp.

Mountain safety One competes at one’s own risk!
There are cliffs, streams, glaciers and snowfields to cross on the courses.
The weather can change very fast in the mountains. Freezing temperatures, snow, rain, storms, mist can all make certain route choices unsuitable. Take no risks - let the mountains decide.

It is absolutely forbidden to run on railway tracks or the E10 highway. Doing so will lead to immediate disqualification.

Keep the team together!

If anything serious happens: Stay calm, look after each other, get help from or help other teams. Contact mountain rescue. Inform an official.

Equipment check Officials will check that teams have the equipment stipulated in the race rules.
Results Will be posted on noticeboards at the overnight camp and at Hotell Fjället, and on the web page www.bamm.nu. The competition can be followed on the website via BAMM Live where preliminary results and times from manned checkpoints will be presented during the day.
Showers/Changing facilities At your own accommodation or at Hotell Fjället. Sauna is available at the hotel.
Massage Unfortunately, we can not offer any massage this year.
BAMM t-shirt This year you can buy the BAMM t-shirt in the competition office. The price is 250 SEK. Limited number of t-shirts.
Valuables Wallets, keys etc can be handed in to the competition office before the race and reclaimed after it. Do not forget to turn off any mobile phones!
Prizegiving Prizes for places 1 to 3 and spot prizes to competitors who have completed the race and are present at the prizegiving. The bar at Hotell Fjället.

The Swedish army will perform a internal ceremony during the prizegiving.

Diploma Can be obtained at the competition office after the race finish or at the prize giving.
Noticeboard Official noticeboard exists beside the competition office and at the overnight camp. It is the competitors' responsibility to check the noticeboard for information about changes before the start on each day.
Questionnaire After the race the participants can fill in a questionnaire to help us make improvements for the future.
